St Austell Brewery produce a range of award-winning ales such as the famous Tribute and Proper Job. Located with a beautiful view of St Austell Bay, the Victorian Tower Brewery remains busier than ever producing a selection of cask and bottled ales.
Established in 1851, St Austell Brewery continues its family tradition and is still a completely independent company. The company was founded by Walter Hicks who started off as a maltster and wine merchant. Even today in the development of a growing and diverse company, the Walter Hicks Wine business continues to be a key component.
Not only do St Austell Brewery produce excellent beers and ales, the company is also a UK-wide chain. Stretching across the South West from Bristol to the Isles of Scilly, many of the area’s most famous pubs are part of the St Austell Brewery estate - particularly in Cornwall! A leading wholesaler supplier, the company delivers beers, lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks to many hotels, bars and restaurants.
In addition, St Austell Brewery are one of the largest employers in Cornwall and offer significant work for many more in the South West region. They also aim to work closely with food suppliers, colleges and farms that are based within the local area.
Although Tribute and Proper Job may be the most famous ales offered by St Austell Brewery, they also produce a range of others including Cornish Bock and Admiral’s Ale. Cornish Bock is a European malty dark lager with a strong and full bodied result. It contains hints of barley sugar and toffee on the nose and is St Austell’s take on the classic beer style. On the other hand, Admiral’s Ale is an extra special deep bronze coloured bitter that has an aroma of roasted and biscuit malt, mixed with a spicy fruit cake flavour.
In case you didn’t already know, Tribute is a bronze coloured English bitter with a rich aroma of biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit from the Willamette hops. It makes a great alternative to fine white wine.
Proper Job is a powerfully hopped golden bitter that explodes with citrus grapefruit flavours. It is brewed with Cornish spring water and malt made from a blend of malts including Cornish grown Maris Otter barley.
